Solution Methods for Tensor and Polynomial Optimization.

Abstract: Tensor and polynomial optimization problems have attracted much
attentions in recent years. One essential problem is to find the largest eigenvalue of a symmetric tensor, or spherically constrained homogenous polynomial optimization model. This problem has numerous applications, e.g. biomedical engineering, quantum mechanics, numerical linear algebra, material science. In this talk, I will discuss some common approaches for solving this model, with a focus on my own research in the past years, which includes maximum block improvement methods, approximation methods, and randomized methods.
